ImpDev Meetup for November 25, 2010.
| [12:04 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| the minimap bug in opensim 0.7 reminded me of the bug in the "center on camera" thing in the minimap. When it's offset, zooming uses bad math to determine the location.
|
| [12:04 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| hi Boroondas :)
|
| [12:04 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| Aimee fixed that when she ported it to viewer-development.
|
| [12:04 PM]
| Boroondas Gupte:
| heya
|
| [12:05 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford BRBs
|
| [12:05 PM]
| Boroondas Gupte:
| hi Richardus
|
| [12:05 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Hi Boroondas :)
|
| [12:05 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| ohai Rira
|
| [12:05 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Hi RiRa
|
| [12:06 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| hi all
|
| [12:06 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| few things.
|
| [12:06 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| have imprudence changed the way inventory works when object is taken back. the folder dont open anymore where the object is stored
|
| [12:08 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| I'm not sure if that has changed in Imprudence
|
| [12:08 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| Damn you 0,0,0!
|
| [12:08 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| I rather think it has not changed in the last 4 weeks
|
| [12:09 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| if i take object back the folder dont open anymore whre the object gets stored in inventory. hard to find quick things back
|
| [12:10 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| It worked for me just now.
|
| [12:10 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| here too
|
| [12:10 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| hehe cant rezz here
|
| [12:11 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| maybe it depends on whether the object has a default inventory folder?
|
| [12:11 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| inventory doesn't open for me (for newly rezzed prim)
|
| [12:12 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| ok in osgrid it works to. maby its sl bug. sl is anyway problmetic. prims that get own life and drop back to old setting delete is slow. so lets blame LL
|
| [12:12 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| If you have the inventory window open, it should navigate to the folder where the object went. If you have the inventory window closed, it doesn't
|
| [12:13 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| I also heard people say given notecards don't open the inventory anymore.
|
| [12:13 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| oh, that makes sense...
|
| [12:13 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Ok. Any topics for today? There's nothing on the agenda
|
| [12:14 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| it looks like its secondlife problem
|
| [12:14 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| it happens there. so i hope someone can check it
|
| [12:14 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| topic: how to we deal with the new limits in SL (prim size and groups per avatar)
|
| [12:14 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| *how do we
|
| [12:15 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| you mean the 64meter limit i heared someone talked about
|
| [12:15 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| groups is new for me
|
| [12:15 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| wow 64
|
| [12:16 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| solid or phantom over 10m?
|
| [12:16 PM]
| Boroondas Gupte:
| ideally, the region would tell the viewer about limits that need some representation in the UI
|
| [12:16 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| I don't think the groups thing was announced officialy, but people reported Andrew Linden talked about it in his office hour, and there was a recent commit to viewer-development, which I ported here: https://github.com/thickbrick/imprudence/commit/e406e63579dd9ee9b5dfbcded775e86f0661ef9e
|
| [12:17 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| Only I don't have anyway to test that...
|
| [12:17 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Boroondas: Yeah, ideally. We've added something like that in Aurora, but I doubt SL will adopt it.
|
| [12:17 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| the commit to viewer-development uses "max-agent-groups" in the login options.
|
| [12:18 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Ok
|
| [12:18 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| I think that should probably be enough. We can test it out more once the new limits roll out (unless they have already?)
|
| [12:18 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| I guess they'll use that and the higher hardcoded prim size limit in new viewers to encourage peopel to upgrade.
|
| [12:19 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| I didn't see the groups option yet in a few regions I tried on aditi.
|
| [12:20 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Okay. Well, for the prim limit -- we can configure it to 64m for future versions. For old versions people can disable max build constraints
|
| [12:20 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| if the viewer support some group setting at login then opensim can im[plement it later easy i hope
|
| [12:21 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| since when is the sim info board spamming chat ?
|
| [12:21 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Just mute it, RiRa
|
| [12:21 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| since they upgraded to opensim 0.7.0.2
|
| [12:22 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| the viewer supports "max_groups" already, which I think is an opensim-ism.
|
| [12:22 PM]
| Boroondas Gupte:
| cool
|
| [12:23 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| <what thickbrick said>
|
| [12:23 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Ok. Anything else?
|
| [12:24 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| yepp, how far is the audio streaming on windows?
|
| [12:25 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| On Monday Robin said it was pretty much done on Windows
|
| [12:26 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Although, we may need to review licensing information with VLC and the plugins and the libraries they use. *sigh*
|
| [12:26 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| eeek
|
| [12:26 PM]
| Boroondas Gupte:
| portage claims VLC to be GPL-2
|
| [12:27 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| if we want to use vlc on linux we also need to patch a own version. the cpu.c capability detection is for some reason looping forever
|
| [12:28 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Blah. For the moment let's keep using gstreamer on Linux, I think
|
| [12:28 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| yeah, i think we can add an additional package when we figured all licensing and patching stuf f out
|
| [12:29 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Yeah
|
| [12:29 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| I am even leaning towards using gstreamer on Mac until I can figure out VLC
|
| [12:29 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Since we already have the libraries ready
|
| [12:30 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| and gstreamer wasn't that crashy on mac?
|
| [12:30 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Not that I know of
|
| [12:31 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| anyway the worst that can happen is you'd get a modal dialog and no more media.
|
| [12:31 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| I guess that needs to be de-modal-ized
|
| [12:31 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Yeah
|
| [12:32 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| oh, yes, what morgaine posted the other day ... this misleading "reinstall" dialog
|
| [12:32 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| I just did "kill -9 " on my gstreamer plugin an nothing happened (except the music stopped)
|
| [12:33 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Hrmmmmmm. *frowns* If VLC is GPL, we might not be able to use it anyway. Blargh.
|
| [12:33 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| huh, why?
|
| [12:34 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| can't a L/gpl plugin load a gpl plugin?
|
| [12:34 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Basically, the FLOSS exception doesn't work with other GPL code. And currently the SLPlugin uses llcommon, which is GPL+FLOSS.
|
| [12:35 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| If you mix GPL+FLOSS with GPL, it just becomes GPL. So if llcommon or SLPLugin uses APR or any other GPL-incompatible libs... no good.
|
| [12:35 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli hates licensing so much
|
| [12:36 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| hm talking about it - is it possible to transplant gpl2 or at chice newer code into gpl2?
|
| [12:37 PM]
| Boroondas Gupte:
| "at chice"?
|
| [12:37 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Yes, you can take "GPL version 2 or later" and change it to "GPL version 2 only". But that won't help here
|
| [12:37 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| (xine cpu detection into vlc)
|
| [12:37 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Ah
|
| [12:37 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| even though from xines code isn't much left ...
|
| [12:38 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| ok, i clean upthe mess i made in the file and send you a patch - so that its there if needed
|
| [12:38 PM]
| Boroondas Gupte:
| brb
|
| [12:39 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Ok, thank you Armin
|
| [12:39 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| I think let's adjourn. I have a lot to do and think about. Oh, and a holiday to try to enjoy. >_<
|
| [12:40 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| ah you have thanks giving ... happy thanksgiving :)
|
| [12:41 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| the traditional American celebration of pie, turkey, and electronics shopping.
|
| [12:41 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| hehehe
|
| [12:42 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| lol ... ok i'll give my cat some " turkey"
|
| [12:42 PM]
| Jacek Antonelli:
| Take care, everyone. See you next week. :)
|
| [12:42 PM]
| Thickbrick Sleaford:
| see you
|
| [12:42 PM]
| Armin WeatherHax:
| take care :)
|
| [12:42 PM]
| Richardus Raymaker:
| bye thickb
